Arnold's Song

The secret to success lies in five simple rules
Follow it to unleash the positive energy it fuels
Keep it close to your unwavering hearts
And unfold the serene wisdom it imparts

First, find your vision and follow it relentlessly
Lest life be a rudderless boat - drifting aimlessly
Dreams are truly what maketh a man
A resolute cog in God's divine plan

Second, think big and shoot for the stars
Lofty thoughts will even put man on Mars
Many a successful enterprise starts in a garage
It's your life - go and make it large

Third, ignore the pervasive naysayers
Instead persist with your steadfast prayers
Negativity should have no place in your soul
Optimism is what makes one consummately whole

Fourth, for hard work, there is no substitute
Each day put in unswerving efforts resolute
Rome, as they say, was not built in a day
Diligence and dedication should be your mainstay

Fifth, give to others that you may receive
Treasures you cannot even fathom or perceive
For by helping the needy and the poor
You receive abundant blessings right at your door

In life's rich soil, just plant these precious seeds
These golden rules by which man succeeds
They will help you conquer, you never need fear
And fulfill the dreams your heart holds dear

The Legend of the Boy Sage

Oushada Kumara was a well renowned sage
Blessed with sublime wisdom at a young age
People approached him with many a disputation
He solved them all and gained a fine reputation

One day the villagers to him did bring
Two women with a baby wrapped in a sling
Each claiming to be the rightful mother
And trying to snatch the babe from the other

The wise sage listened to each woman's plight
And solemnly decided to set things aright
On a line on the sand, placing the child in the center
He asked each woman to pull the baby towards her

The one successful in pulling the baby to her side
Would be adjudged the rightful mother with pride
The other would indeed be justly punished
For the blatant lie that she has furnished

Both women pulled with all their might
That the babe began to cry out at this fight
The cries one woman's heart did pierce
That she let go the babe and burst into tears

The other woman promptly claimed to be the victor
Not so, said the boy sage sternly to her
You showed no mercy during this fight
But the real mother couldn't bear the baby's plight

Her love for the babe is so kind and so pure
That his poignant cries she could not endure
She will have this babe restored to her
For she is the true and rightful mother

Thus the boy sage again showed his wisdom grand
That his legend began to fill the land
Yet he remained humble with all this fame
Attributing it all to the Almighty's name

The Gift of Life

Oh, traveler through the sands of time
Take heed and pray, stop a while
Yonder do the Church bells chime
To welcome forth the new born child

The silence of the golden morn
Is broken by his tender cries
The promise of a glorious dawn
Is writ large in his gentle eyes

The mother to her holds him close
To bind him in a love supreme
A love that through life’s highs and lows
Will build in him his self esteem

Oh, seeker of the worldly treasure
Seek ye first the truth divine
The gift of life is but a simple measure
Of God’s love for all mankind

Melancholy Eyes

If her face were to paint her past glories
And her eyes were to tell a thousand stories
Then why doth her face seem jolly and nice
And why does she have melancholy eyes

She lights up your life with her beautiful smile
And takes on the world with grace in her stride
Then why oh why the Creator cries
That she should have melancholy eyes

She speaks in a tone that befits a queen
And laughs sweetly with elegance unseen
Then why does she take her beau by surprise
When she looks at him with melancholy eyes

She is blessed with the wisdom of a holy sage
Serenity and poise that is hard to gauge
Then why does all humanity sigh
When she wins their hearts with melancholy eyes

Splish Splosh

Splish splosh wish wash
Pitter patter raindrops
Falling on my galosh
As I dance in my flip-flops

This puddle that puddle
All the grownups in a huddle
Seek shelter where they stand
In a wet wonderland

Drippety drip Skippety skip
All the trees swoosh in glee
I try not to slip
In the slush all around me

This cloud that cloud
All the frogs croak aloud
The farmers too sing merrily
For heaven 'n earth are in harmony

Unto Thee

O Father, unto Thee we come
From far and distant yonder lands
With hoe and harrow, wheel and barrow
To offer Thee work of our hands

O Father, our hands are badly calloused
And our feet bruised and sore
We yearn for Thy yoke to be comforting
As we knock on Thy Holy door

O Father, our souls cannot cease to celebrate Thee
Gentle and merciful are Thy wondrous ways
In joys and in woes, we turn unto Thee
For Thine is true strength and amazing grace

O Father, Thy perpetual praises we sing
Thou art our stay and our rock eternally
Accept the humble offerings we bring
Our life is the song we sing unto Thee

A Glimmer of Hope

Success eludes the scholar twice
But she does not sit and mope
Burning the midnight oil she tries
Clinging onto a glimmer of hope

The competition is tough and fierce
The artist seems to have no scope
He stares silently at his empty canvas
Clinging onto a glimmer of hope

The battle has raged long and hard
The warrior finds it hard to cope
But he urges his troops to move onward
Clinging onto a glimmer of hope

The stock market crashes yet again
The broker studies the downward slope
She risks buying more when others refrain
Clinging onto a glimmer of hope

Perseverance pays off in the long run
The scholar succeeds in her third endeavour
The artist paints the streaming sun
And wins accolades, laurels and honour

The enemy finally gives up the cause
Seeing the warrior's unwavering stolidity
The market goes bullish and recovers the loss
The broker benefits because of her solidity

Clinging onto hope works wonders for sure
If you dare to persevere
Believe in yourself as you endure
And you will overcome your fear

Faith and hope are a potent mix
As time and tide will proclaim
It will pull you out of any fix
And will bring you success, glory and fame
